First Super appoints employer representative Janet Gilbert to Board

March 27th, 2017

Industry Super Fund First Super has appointed Janet Gilbert as a Director, making it the Fund’s fifth female member of the 12-member Board.

Ms Gilbert replaces Martin Lewis as an employer representative.

First Super’s Board is comprised of an equal number of employer and employee representatives, and two independent representatives.

Ms Gilbert is a legal and industrial relations lawyer with the Timber Trade Industrial Association, a national body supporting small-medium businesses in the timber industry.

She has previously worked as an Employment Counsel/Policy Manager at AMP, and for law firms King & Wood Mallesons, and Deacons (now Norton Rose).

Ms Gilbert currently serves in a voluntary role as Deputy Chair of the Board of Directors of the Kirribilli Centre and is a past volunteer at the Kingsford Legal Centre.

“Janet Gilbert will bring a fresh employers’ perspective to our Board, with 15 years’ experience in industrial and employment law, and seven years’ experience working in our industry,” First Super CEO Bill Watson.

“Her appointment brings us to 45 per cent female representation on our Board. In a male dominated industry, we are very proud of this achievement,” Mr Watson said.
