Financial advice options

When it comes to financial advice, the First Super team debunk all the myths. We make financial advice accessible for everyone, and most importantly, more affordable than you think.

We’ve helped hundreds of members all over Australia. In fact, the majority of members who received personal advice did not have to pay anything extra –the costs were already covered by their annual First Super membership fee.

Types of financial advice

No matter what you need, we have a solution.

General Financial Advice*

This service is provided by our Local Coordinators and our Member Services contact centre.

They can help you with general queries about your First Super account and help you understand super’s rules and regulations.

This advice does not consider your personal and financial circumstances.

General advice can help you with:

  • Understanding super
  • Ways to grow your super
  • Understanding investment options and your investment choice
  • Using super when you transition to retirement and in retirement
  • Complete paperwork, set up your firstonline account, nominate beneficiaries
  • Transfer your KiwiSaver to First Super and answer any questions you have on KiwiSaver Transfers
  • Using your Super and KiwiSaver to purchase your first home in Australia through First Home Super Saver scheme

Contact your Local coordinator or our Member Services team on 1300 360 988.

Book a meeting with a financial planner

Many members receive most of the information they need from a Super or Retirement Health check. We recommend doing this first. You can then decide whether you need comprehensive advice.

*There is no extra cost to you, it’s all part of your membership with us.

Comprehensive Advice

Paid service fee: $2,300

Comprehensive advice, offers more detailed personalised financial advice and is a paid service. We can help you with advice that covers topics beyond your First Super account for you and your spouse / partner.

Comprehensive advice include all of the above services and:

  • Compare super funds with First Super and recommend other superannuation funds if they are better suited to your preferences and needs.
  • Maximise your Age Pension benefits (including moving funds to a partner’s super)
  • Tailor your insurance needs outside of super
  • Investing outside of super
  • Annuities

Your first meeting is at no extra cost to you. After your meeting you can decide whether to go ahead with comprehensive advice.

Our financial planners receive no commissions or any other financial incentives for recommending other products and services.

Why choose First Super for financial advice?

Here are just some of the many reasons our financial planners should be your first port of call for advice about super and retirement.

Financial advice isn’t expensive

No hidden fees. Much of the advice we give to First Super members is at no extra cost.

Start with a Super or Retirement Health check with one of our financial planners.

Any advice about your super, TTR, Retirement Income account or insurance is included in your First Super membership.

Where fees apply

We’re upfront about our fees and when they apply. If you want to take things further, we offer a comprehensive personalised financial plan for a flat fee of $2,300.

This includes reviewing and recommending other superannuation funds and life insurance / income protection outside of your First Super account for you and your spouse or partner.

If you’re nearing retirement, we can help you navigate Age pension eligibility and maximise Age pension benefits (moving funds between accounts).

We aim to keep our fees competitive and affordable for everyone so that all members can maximise their retirement and benefit from our advice services.

No commissions

Our planners receive a salary, no commissions or any other type of incentives, so you can rest assured that the advice they give you is in your best interest, not theirs.

We pride ourselves on honesty and transparency, it’s at the heart of everything we do, together with our member-first approach.

Our financial planners are trustworthy specialists

Our team of respected financial planners are fully accredited and undergo regular training to keep their qualifications and registrations up to date.

They pride themselves on giving expert advice that’s in your best interest.

Our planners will even recommend other super products and services if they believe they are better suited to you, we simply want you to have the best retirement outcome possible.

Our financial planners put you first

Our financial planning team have been working with First Super members across the country for over ten years.

We understand the unique needs of First Super members. We take the time to get to know you and what you are wanting to achieve, before tailoring advice that’s right for you.

We love meeting our members, whether it be in person, over the phone or online.
