Awards success for First Super communications campaigns

December 17th, 2019

After a huge year for creative communications to our members, First Super walked away double winners at the AIST Awards for Excellence on 4 December.

The Australian Institute for Superannuation Trustees (AIST) – which is the peak body for profit-to-member super funds – holds it awards program to recognise the achievements of funds like ours in producing outstanding results for their members.

Our Member Competition 2019 won the category for Best Direct Mail Campaign (spend under $40,000) and our ‘Don’t be crazy – find your lost super’ communications project won Best Integrated Campaign (spend under $40,000).

Both these campaigns achieved great results for our members, which is at the heart of everything we do.

The Member Competition campaign was created to improve the quality of our member data to help improve engagement with members. By making the entry process easy and simple, the initiative saw thousands of members update their personal details. Overall 4,611 First Super members entered the competition and updated 7,279 personal contact details.

The ‘Find lost super’ project ran from 12 March to 30 June 2019. The eye-catching communications promoted our new hassle-free functionality that helps members track down other super balances and consolidate them to their First Super accounts. Within just 15 weeks, the campaign and tools had achieved:

  • 3,295 unique member searches for lost super;
  • 1,225 members finding a match; and
  • 1,078 consolidating other balances to their First Super account totaling $17.98 million.

The Marketing and Communications Team is now working on updating these two campaigns to run afresh in 2020.
