FIRSTSUPER’s Trustees understand the importance of protecting your privacy and take every care to protect it.
The Privacy Act (as amended) regulates the way the Fund and its service providers collect, store and protect the quality of personal information and how those organisations use and share the information with others. The National Privacy Principles embedded in the Act form part of our procedures and policies and how Members’ accounts are administered.
What information will FIRSTSUPER keep and why?
FIRSTSUPER collects personal information from Members to administer their accounts. The type of information collected about you includes your name, address, date of birth, telephone number and tax file number. FIRSTSUPER collects this information when you use the Fund’s website to lodge forms or send us documents containing personal information. There may also be circumstances when your employer sends personal details to FIRSTSUPER for you.
To assess your eligibility for insurance cover or for the assessment of a claim, more information may be collected from you or your medical practitioners or from your employer. First Super would only collect such information with your consent.
Other organisations connected to the administration of your account may have access to your personal information. They include mailing companies that do our mailouts, archiving companies that store our documents securely, auditors and regulators that ensure we comply with legal and contractual obligations and insurance companies that provide your insurance cover.
Can I see the information FIRSTSUPER has about me?
You have a right to know what information we hold about you and you are entitled to see it to make sure it’s correct. To obtain this information, please contact FIRSTSUPER and ask for your personal details. The Privacy Act gives limited circumstances in which some or all access to this information may be denied. If this applies to you, we will explain this to you when you ask for your information.
