Like many Australians, you probably have your home and car insured. But what about your most important asset – YOU? Insurance cover gives you peace of mind that, if the worst happens, you and your family are protected. FIRSTSUPER gives members the benefit of insurance cover for:
Death & Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD)
Death & TPD Insurance provides a benefit if you die, have a terminal illness or become totally and permanently disabled. He main features are:
- automatic cover on entry to the Industry Division - 4 units for $4.68/wk (Standard) or $2.12/wk (Low Risk)
- Personal Division entrants can provide health details for death & TPD cover on equal terms
- death & TPD cover can be increased to as high as $2million with medical information provided
- on application, cover can be reduced below the 4 default units or abandoned completely
- the amount of your cover per unit of insurance depends on your age
- the cost of your cover depends on whether you are in a high-risk of low-risk occupation
- cover continues as long as your super account has enough funds to keep paying the premiums

Voluntary Income Protection Cover
Income Protection Insurance is available for FIRSTSUPER Members to provide a monthly benefit up to 85% of your salary for a maximum period of up to 2 years if you are unable to work as a result of being totally or partially disabled due to injury or illness for longer than a nominated waiting period. Benefit up to 75% of your salary can be paid in cash and the remaining benefit credited to your superannuation account.
Income Protection cover is $100 per month per unit purchased and is available only on application. All cover for Income Protection is subject to acceptance by the insurer. Premiums vary depending on the waiting period chosen, your age, occupation and whether you are male or female.
